Jonna Aaltonen (born 1972) works intensively as a freelance dance artist. During her international career (since 1995) she has also been a member of several reputable companies in Europe, for exemple Norrdans, Sweden and Volksoper Wien, Austria (under direction of Liz King).
She is happy to have had the privilege to work with numerous respected choreographers, such as for example Mats Ek, Nigel Charnock, Benoît Lachambre, Michael Klien, Anu Sistonen, Tommi Kitti...
The rewarding co-operation with Anu Sistonen started 2003. "Life" (2010) was their seventh production together.
She has performed and toured widely in Europe, also worldwide in Canada and Japan.
Aaltonen has worked broadly in the field of dance and theatre: in contemporary dance productions, dancetheatre-, musical- and opera productions and is experienced also as a rehearsal director, choreographer's assistant and workshop-based-teacher.
Since 2008 Aaltonen has also awakened fascination with her improvisational performance/character: "Sorrowcollector" ("Surujenkerääjä").
She has been praised for her expressive, sincere stage-presence and her versatile technical skills.
